STEWARDSHIP AND FINANCE

MISSION

To lift Jesus Christ through calling His people to committed stewardship while faithfully managing His finances at Bethel.

"But if anyone has the world's goods; and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?  Little children, let us not love in word, or talk but in deed and in truth."              1 John 3:17-18 (ESV)

The Stewardship and Finance Committee, along with the congregation, works diligently to meet the spiritual needs while also meeting the financial needs of   Bethel and the community.  Remembering that all we have comes from God and, in response to His love for us, we respond by sharing our monies, time and talents.

Spiritually, the committee looks at educating members related to tithing:  what is it, what does it mean and how do we do it.  An opportunity is provided in the fall for personal reflection as each person presents their monetary commitment on Dedication Sunday.  Then we watch and listen to the needs of the people around us and assist as God leads us.  Realizing that we have been given time and talents, in the spring, we offer an opportunity for people to pledge use of these special gifts in the church/community for the coming year.

Financially, this committee prepares an annual operating budget, shares it with the church members and oversees it throughout the year.  In conjunction with the Missions and Outreach Committee, other special giving opportunities are offered during the year including:  Pennies for Hunger, One Great Hour of Sharing, Joy Gift and Pentecost/Peacemaking.

Come join us as a member of the congregation and the Stewardship and Finance committee at Bethel remembering:  "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV)
